Pros

Due to limited budgets, or budget shortfalls, there is a need for adjuncts. Departments are always in need of adjunct faculty in order to provide support for over-extended faculty.

Cons

FAU does not value professors or adjuncts and this is reflected in hiring practices, budget allocation, and departmental practices. Many departments outside of the business school are underfunded, understaffed and with too few faculty.

Pros

Great location. Free tuition at FAU. Nice office space. Helpful staff. State benefits. Supervisors are willing to help when help is needed. Some go above and beyond.

Cons

Promotion only occurs when someone quits or retires. Low salary for position compared to other schools. One of the lowest paying departments in the university for being a "financial advising" position. Can't go on a short vacation without being bombarded with 200 e-mails upon return.

Lots of intelligent people, and nice people. Students are diverse. Campus is much improved in recent years. Location is central and easy to reach.

Cons

State of Florida rules can be crazy. One size does not fit all. Does not have the resources of the larger schools. Raises paltry.
