-Limited diversity within the staff and those who stay tend to leave due to the institutional culture/resourcing
-Promotion is also limited. Most of my colleagues, who came to FSU and were in Director roles previously at other institutions, had to work their way up through entry level positions in order to get a director position again at FSU. There is a insular culture when it comes to hiring. In addition, you need to leave your department to receive a promotion in title and pay.
-Low pay. Florida State pays its employees less than peer institutions like the University of Florida and it's a well known fact. Many of my colleagues got involved with MLMs off-campus because salary was so low or worked another full-time/part-time job.
-You cannot get fired at FSU. You literally have to not show up to your job for weeks to be fired from FSU and even then, you could get away with it. Poor management is retained because turnover is high and it looks bad for the university.
-Leadership struggling with all of the new leadership changes and people are walking on eggshells
