Pros

Good Benefits Holidays Paid Week off at Christmas (no leave required)

Cons

no raises no bonuses treated like crap by supervisors when filed sexual harassment claim. I was sexually harassed by a co-worker who worked in a different office (same department). I filed a complaint and he was told to stay away from me. Less than a month later, that same employee was promoted to work in my office hand and hand with me. When I told my boss I wasn't comfortable with that, he told me to grow up and get over it. Asked HR to help me transfer to another area as this wasn't ok, and was told i needed to find a job on my own. for the next 2 years i was written up for no reason, treated like crap, and my boss even went as far as to call potential employers and tell them how lousy I was. The head of the department sent multiple emails out about how sexual harassment wasn't tolerated in our department and any complaint would be handled by immediate dismissal. When brought to his attention, he said there was nothing he could do about it. (on a side note, the employee continued to sexually harass costumers, employees, etc. he's been promoted twice and has even received employee of the year twice even though he has multiple offenses in his records) I was told by HR that if any retaliation took place to let them know as that also wasn't tolerated. i had multiple witnesses write statements saying they heard him make comments about having me fired and she wont be there for long. HR did nothing. Instead i was punished and written up. I took 3 days off for being sick, brought in the proper paperwork stating i was out due to illness and continued to work on things i missed. I was then suspended for 3 days for "not showing up to work" and "failure to complete assignments" for the 3 days i was out. I tried fighting it only to lose and being told by the director i was just very disgruntled. Those witnesses who stood up for me were also punished as well. When I filed for FMLA due to pregnancy, I was told my boss that "i GUESS its ok" (cause he has an say on my family) and later even said when i called in a double ear infection and severe bronchitis "I KNOW YOU'RE FAKING THIS PREGNANCY TO GET OUT OF WORK!" When i handed in my 2 weeks (which was kind in my opinion), they were shocked and i was asked if i was leaving due to supervision issues.

Pros

Benefits are great. Community feel to the university. Tuition scholarships for employees. Every winter you receive at least a week off between Christmas and New Years where the university is closed.

Cons

Salary is way below average for the expertise required for positions. Lack of uniformity in month to month policies. Employees rely on the expertise of people around them because many centralized training classes are generalized and do not actually teach you the step-by-step or background of why things are done certain ways, creating employees that can't make informed decisions when outlying situations happen.

Pros

Great group of managers and professionals in the IT community.

Cons

Living in Tallahassee, not the ideal place for conservative folks, but I imagine neither is any college town.
