No Work/Life Balance, No Actual Vacations

Pros

Work from home Some flexibility - mostly during the school day.

Cons

Overloaded with students - 160 rotating students at all times. Constant in and out, but make sure to “connect” with each one. Cater to each and every student (all 160) at all times. You are never allowed to say, “no sorry I can’t”. Impossible demands - call at least 25 students a day to have meaningful conversations, complete at least 2 hours of DBAs (oral assignments), return any and all contact within 24hrs, reach out to all new students within 24hrs, and grade all work submitted each day. The idea that it can be done in 8hrs is comical. No real vacations (students and parents are always calling/texting and submitting work). You don’t have to answer on your time off, but you must return all calls and grade all work the moment you’re back. So technically you’re never really off. Your kind is always on the job. Everything is your fault, which to be honestly is what it’s like teaching anywhere.

Pros

Work from home, that’s about it

Cons

Work non stop! Constantly pushed to do more and “holidays” don’t exist because the work piles up when you’re out.

Pros

Work from home and flexible schedule

Cons

Forget about a life outside of FLVS. Vacations and time off, a joke, as you MUST work orfall behind. I never had a REAl vacation, always a working vacation. ILs are typical meglomnaniacs, promotions based on how much you pucker up, not what you know or qualifications.
