Pros

The ability to work virtually; however for administration it is only one day per week.

Cons

What FLVS needs is a union. They fight it, harass and get rid of anyone who thinks the word. But if FLVS is such a great company and care so much about their employees, then why are they afraid of union representation? Yes its true FLVS uses you up and then throws you away like yesterday's trash. The environment is based on fear and anxiety. Encouraging employees to lie and cheat on those who “they” want out; Administration manages by intimidation the executive administration holds your contract renewal over your head like a bat ready to come down HR practices of firing without warning strike terror in the hearts of good employees. It is a culture of fear you are in constant fear of being let go. It is rampant with capricious firings. Favoritism and cronyism are rampant here as are inefficiency and waste. Forget the law, DOE rules even FLVS policy; if you try to do what you were hired to do and work within the lines you are “tag” as uncooperative and unfriendly. If you don’t break the law to get them what they want you are on their list. The leadership is totally lacking in integrity, loyalty to employees or any kind of a collegial work environment. If there is ever a true audit………

Pros

-Working from home ( though this quickly turns into a negative) -Competitive salary (only because Florida ranks low in teacher compensation) -Competent colleagues -I can think of NOTHING else positive to say about this organization.

Cons

I was an instructor for FLVS for over 11 years and it was the BIGGEST mistake of my professional career! I regret ever getting involved with this organization. EVERYTHING is based on the money gained from completing students in the courses. The phrase "Any time, any place, any pace" is a catchy phrase, but that is all it is, as students who slow the completion rates of the course(s) are often discouraged from taking the courses or are removed from the courses so that the school's completion expectations are met. If you want to be treated as less than a competent professional, have your personal time limited, and hear of the lavish vacations of management, seek employment with this organization! I will forever regret being a part of FLVS!
