Pros

The company and my supervisers went above and beyond to help me work and still take care of my husband when he got sick suffering with ALS. They worked with me and the time I needed to be at home to take of family. When i was going to leave to stay at home, they insisted that I take a family medical leave for 12 weeks so that I would actually be employed for a full ten years so I could take advantage of my full retirement. They did not have to do that and it has made all the difference in the wolrd now that I am alone.

Cons

None, really. Like all companies, there are always problems but this company really cares about it's employees and at the same time stay competetive in the world of finance.

Pros

Exciting products and good people to work with. Provided lots of training opportunities for ongoing education. Benefits are what you would expect for a corporation this size

Cons

Raises are very little most years. Employees that stay are given small yearly increases, but if you leave they will offer a huge increase to get you to stay. I chose to leave. With the corporate pay structure I would have never gotten a raise again at the higher level.

Pros

I enjoyed getting mechanical engineering experience in the analysis and design of centrifugal pumps. Since the engineering office is in the same building as the manufacturing plant, there are plenty of opportunities for an engineer to look at actual parts in order to understand better a pump design.

Cons

Flowserve is a large company that has grown through acquisitions of smaller companies. Although the small companies are now under the Flowserve umbrella, they still function as what they used to be before they became Flowserve. This hinders collaboration between Flowserve plants because they still view each other as competitors. Moreover Flowserve has a less than desirable work environment. Often times meetings are scheduled and the meeting organizer never shows up. This is highly unprofessional, and a red flag that something is terribly wrong. Finally, there is a mentality of "we've always done things this way" that does not welcome engineers coming from an industry other than the pump manufacturing industry.
