Pros

Job could be satisfying and challenging in a personal level. National and international travel is possible if you are in management.

Cons

Hard work is not recognized. Education and degree does not mean much. You have to make many compromises to satisfy leadership. You must swallow your pride and say yes sir. Independent thinking is a taboo. Stay within the box and follow. . Body system and nepotism rules. Do not believe what they tell you during the interview and get it in writing.

Pros

Flowserve is a large corporation that has the feel of many smaller companies making up a whole. There's no way to describe how it works other than as a number of smaller siloed facilities that are all part of Flowserve. The benefit to this is that it's easy to be a big fish in a small pond, however, it can be quite easy to be relegated to a backward facility and have very little room for advancement. It is imperative to hook into an appropriate social network at the company in order to meet the right people and prepare for advancement.

Cons

There are some downsides at working here, as well - it is very easy to fall through the cracks and not have the ability to move into a new position. Most of the facilities are located in very remote, third or fourth tier cities (think Cookeville, TN, Sulphur Springs, TX, and so on), and just are not placed many people who are not from the area want to work.

Pros

Within pockets of Flowserve there are GREAT supervisors. There are wonderful opportunities to excel and to learn a lot of business skills. FPD, or the Pumps division is probably the very best area to work in as it will provide the best opportunities to grow and the most opportunities to move within the organization. Of all the divisions, the leadership in FPD is the strongest and most experienced. Tom Ferguson, the president of FPD has come up through the ranks, even being the president of FSD at one point, and knows how to treat his people. FCD, however, is quite fragmented and is rowing in four different directions, beware. FSD is the golden child, being small and nimble.

Cons

There are an incredible amount of incapable leaders at Flowserve. Some are even executives that have even their bosses fooled.
