Pros

It's a good starting place to start out if you're just out of college and want to experience laboratory work in the food industry is like. Lab techs and all very friendly and everyone tries to help each other out. If you're lucky, you'll get to work and learn some instrumentation.

Cons

The pay is very low. Even with a Bachelor's degree in a hard science, the starting salary can be as low as 13/hr. The management is shaky at best. Managers sometimes treat the workers more like slaves to meet with client demands rather than fellow co-workers.

Great learning experience at a cost

Pros

- Ready and willing to teach you anything as long as you put in the time and effort - Advancement opportunities within the company are frequent due to the very high turnover rate (it is possible to reach seniority in as little as two years) - Quarterly training on techniques and skills with opportunities to travel to sister laboratories in the country

Cons

- Employees will typically work overtime (50-65) hours a week with no additional pay - Poor management has caused a very high turnover rate, leading to overtime and a constant need for training individuals on highly specialized techniques, which takes time - Expensive health benefits

I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback, though I hope you will consider calling me to discuss your concerns further or I would be happy to come to the lab to visit with you. We work really hard to provide opportunities for training, growth and development for all employees. Our goal is to create a culture where our employees are happy, engaged and appreciated. Please also consider making time with your Lab Manager or Regional Director/Manager. Thanks again. Bob Cox, SVP HR.
