Bad all around

Pros

Get some experience working with people and developing relationships with co-workers.

Cons

Worst experience of my life. Bad corporate values are present here and to make things worse, they have recently announced incentives for anything that writes good glassdoor reviews. They go on witch hunts when this lab receives a bad review. I guess they have too many bad reviews here so they are now offering gift cards for good reviews lol. Not a great place to work for long. The only reason I am still here is because I have not successfully received a callback from any of my interviews yet.

I’m sorry that you have decided to conduct a job search and you are not getting call backs. If I can help you in this regard, please reach out. Your comment on Glassdoor reviews is rather concerning. We work hard to create a great culture for our employees. About a year ago – though our lab managers – we suggested that employees consider posting feedback on Glassdoor. Many companies do this. There were no incentives offered, there are still no incentives being offered, no one is being coerced, no one has been written up and we all know feedback is anonymous. Unfortunately, we had some managers and employees who were unable to properly interpret the request and/or felt that anonymous feedback would be a conduit for change. As you know, posting “your business” on social media does not resolve issues – in-person productive discussions do. Rather than post on social media, how about giving me or another member of the HR Team a call to talk through your concerns so that we can properly address them? If after this discussion we cannot come to a mutual resolution, I would be happy to help you find another opportunity that is more suited to what you want to do. Thank you. Bob Cox, SVP HR

Pros

This is a good company for gaining lab experience and if you can get into managements good favors life will be easier, provided corporate doesn't veto anything. I have seen and heard of lab managers actually trying to get the help or pay people want but usually always gets turned down by corporate for one reason or another. The Christmas party was usually always the highlight of working there. The bonus wasn't the best but there was one and they usually go all out at the venue.

Cons

This is not a very reliable job at times. As you have probably read everyone complain about the excess of hours and lack of help, there is a flip side. Depending on which lab you work, I worked 2, there are slow seasons and too much help. At that time hours get cut back and usually get told to just enjoy the free time while you can. I'm putting the degree portion in the cons because if you don't have one life becomes a lot harder to promote no matter the experience. They will hire people with high degrees and give them everything. The down side to that is I got stuck working with a hand full of master degree holds that weren't their weight in salt. It's very discouraging for some people to see such treatment. The benefits are kind of a joke as they are really expensive and probably the worst I've ever seen being offered. It wasn't uncommon to get a company email about writing positive reviews or hear about it in lab meetings.

Our employees and our customers are at the center of all we do. For a number of our lab locations our customers operate 24/7 and with that, expect us to operate similar schedules to fulfil their testing needs. To your point, sometimes there are swings in business and the need for employees at certain times. This is not uncommon for many customer centric businesses. At FSNS, qualified employees come from many backgrounds and education levels. We have worked to create career journeys and career pathing to show the way to advancement in position and pay. We continue to train and develop our managers into strong leaders and will continue to create a culture where our employees are happy, engaged, valued and appreciated. I would like to hear more from you on your concerns and hope you will consider contacting me directly. Thank you. Bob Cox, SVP HR.

Pros

You meet some good people here but they all eventually find better positions

Cons

Not a good place to work longer than 3 months. There is an exception. If you manage to become involved in nepotism or favouritism, you should work here as youll get promoted quickly and they will skip checklists for you. Otherwise, don't even bother...

I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback, though I hope you will consider calling me to discuss your concerns further or I would be happy to come to the lab to visit with you. We provide many opportunities for training, growth and development for all employees. Our goal is to create a culture where our employees are happy, engaged and appreciated. I look forward to a further discussion. Thanks again. Bob Cox, SVP HR.
