Pros

Schedule flexibility and some great coworkers. Years ago it was a fun place to work.

Cons

Low pay, increasing work loads with no additional compensation, a merger with Champs Sports where the Footlocker/ Eastbay staff was let go but they are the ones who knew how to use the programs. The skeleton crew that were left had to pick up the slack for the Champs folks who did not want to learn the programs. Whole departments were eliminated with those positions being outsourced to India, and IT to a call center in two waves over the last 4 years. Upper management is caught in their own echo chamber of congratulating themselves on quarterly profits, while failing to understand how that sounds to workers who are not given more than a 2% raise each year which does not keep up with the cost of living or inflation over time. This has been an annual occurrence over the last 20 years. Walmart was compensating shelf stockers more than I was making after over 20 years of employment.

Product Managers Beware

Pros

- Good experience to add to your resume - Great stepping stone for your next opportunity

Cons

- This company is a revolving door, HEAVY turn over across all of Product & Tech. On average, majority of hires leave after 1-3 years, tops. I saw that not only in Product but across Engineers & QA. - You are CONSTANTLY doing the job of at least 2+ people = severe burn out - Micro-management and no actual support from management, no matter how many discussions and syncs you have - Work/Life balance is NOT given - Product managers are Project managers - FL Inc. does not understand the difference

Misleading culture

Pros

Benefits and pay are decent. Office in West Loop. Work from home every Friday.

Cons

The team mainly consists of people who just put their hours in and leave. I haven't seen anybody actually enjoy being there. The recruiters frame the culture similar to a startup but it's actually corporate. The process is more waterfall than agile. Many people who work here don't speak English as their first language. The language barrier is frustrating and accents makes things hard to understand. As a software engineer, I have yet to write any code.
