Pros

Straight forward job – selling sports clothes and shoes. --- Sunday shifts were fun, and you met cool customers (return excuses were funny at times for denied shoes that were clearly worn). --- The store’s music and setting were cool and modern with air conditioning. It was also nice being at the mall for work. --- Good exposure to understanding sales and sports fashion at the entry level with handling an inventory room in the back. --- Co-workers and customers were mostly nice (like 95%). --- The work scheduling was great; they worked around my schooling. --- Having a high sales day was the best feeling and you got a nice bonus from it! I also honestly really did like helping customers, it was very satisfying seeing people get happy over buying apparel and shoes they really liked and wanted (capitalism at its finest).

Cons

New managers would change the vibe of the store and target employees. I had one who thought it was his store, like he owned Foot Locker and tried to make me do extra work that was never part of job, that no one else had to do and I wouldn’t do it, so he was out to get me, and he took my sales one time for his bonus. There were good managers, but bad ones can really ruin the shift (you must learn how to ignore them or phase them out). --- You can have slow sales days. --- You might get over the job after a year or two (but it is worth it if you are in school or just need something that will work around your schedule).

This was such a thoughtful and real review! Thanks for laying it all out. Sounds like you brought a ton of energy and positivity to the store, and we’re glad the flexibility helped you balance work with school. We also hear you on leadership. The store vibe really changes depending on who's running the shift, and that’s something we’re always trying to get better at. Thanks again for being part of the team!

Thanks for sticking it out with us for a few years. It’s good to hear the pay and growth stood out to you. We know the day-to-day workload can feel like a lot, and time off is a real need when things get hectic. Appreciate you being real about your experience and putting in the time that you did!
