Pros

Getting to work with pretty cool equipment Working in interesting places and for pretty big companies The people I work with on a day to day basis The training they offer is very good (because turnover is very bad)

Cons

Turnover is pretty crazy - especially in HR and Project Engineers Pay is bad compare to the rest of the market Requirements for promotion are typically unrelated to your role Management has no idea what you are doing until something goes terribly wrong Time off is laughable

Pros

I did meet some good people that I still talk to. (They all quit too.) I got some extra brisket in Dallas when I got locked in a restaurant because of an active shooter in the area. Sad news but my day was good. If you hate your family. You know your annoying wife and ugly kids. Then this is the job for you, because you'll never see them. You get to travel so often, home will be a distance memory. Of coarse you'll still have to pay for a house you don't live in and a car you won't drive. But hey! No stupid family.

Cons

You are micromanaged all the time. You are made to share a hotel room with the other installers. The profit sharing is a joke. I think I made $300 over the span of 4 years. You are treated well if you are in management and in Oklahoma and if you are buddies with the right people. Top management is so lost and refuses to see the major moral issue, the constant turnover rate and the fact that it's not the 1980s anymore. The company makes a good amount of money but does not believe in investing back into the company. Their computers, printers, and other tech is very out of date. Their vehicles are death traps. (But its your fault when the breaks go out.) Safety 3rd. They love to preach about safety until it comes with a price tag. True story - I found sidewall damage on the tire of a company vehicle. Significant damage. Guess what... no spare cause that would cost money. I was told to "safely" drive down the freeway until i could get to a tire shop. You want a raise? you have to threaten to quit. I didn't believe this when I was told but i found out the hard way that is 100% the truth.
