Pros

- Top 10 National AV Company - Willing to give you lots of industry training - aka Ford University - Not much past that...

Cons

-Everyone works on 1970s MS-DOS software making things extremely inefficient. Which isn't going anywhere as Jim Ford created it and refuses to change. -EXTEMELY negative work atmosphere as everyone feels underpaid and over-worked. -2 month hiring process with lots of tests and tons of paperwork -Policies and procedures for EVERYTHING, including even having a cup of coffee, which you must pay for. -EXTREMELY slow processes which really annoy customers and make getting anything done VERY time consuming. -Almost everyone is micro-managed straight from the top. The Ford's have their hands in EVERY part of the company. -Told straight from ownership you are expected to work nights, weekends, travel, etc. while on salary pay. -Tons of policies in handbook to screw you on pay, PTO, holidays, etc. when you put in your departure notice. -Every manager is simply a puppet that the Ford's can pull the strings on whenever they like and follow to Ford's pathetically slow beat!

Pros

Constant 40+ hour work weeks. Sometimes traveling is a plus. Reimbursement per mile you drive isn't bad. Great place to start if you are young and need to learn a career. Ford pays for you to get certified in many of things. They do weekly travel reports. Sadly. It's not utilized correctly. Most people don't care to fill one out with useful information. Meaning the hard work someone does. Just doesn't pay off. While others slacking on the job won't get recorded either.

Cons

The Ford database needs to be updated. They are using a system from the 80s. Granted. It's proven to be good. But. Sometimes new ways are more efficient. They don't provide company vehicles for employees to use. They don't provide tools. But then require you to have specialty tools. When you walk through the office you see some engineers and project managers that you can tell just a tired and beat from working their butts off. Then you have others that are happy go lucky. Because they hardly work. I feel people should be watched a little closer. Nobody seems to be happy at Ford. Every install technician I met had something to complain about at Ford. Majority of the complaints were pay composition. They don't give timely raises. They give merit ones. Sadly most of the work from people in field goes unnoticed or the supervisor or project manager takes the credit for the hard work. Someone will tell you you earned a raise. But you won't get it for two months. The supervisors are required to fill out a job site report. It's a great thing. Except they dont fill in the information to the best of their knowledge. They have a spot to record how each person performed on the day. I've talked to four supervisors from different areas of the company. No one ever gets recorded as Exceeds expectations because that requires the supervisor to write a paragraph about why they succeeded. So there goes your good merit raises. I would personally work my butt off while others sit on the Jobsite playing on cellphones. And my work went unnoticed.
