Know what you are getting into

Pros

If you are ambitious, quick-minded, know a particular industry very well, and are always, ALWAYS focused on the bottom line and landing that next six to seven figure 'engagement' (you are essentially selling of consulting services), then you may be a fit. Competitive pay. Potential for bonuses.

Cons

Be prepared for a very long---potentially months---interview process. Be prepared for long hours and deadline upon deadline. Be prepared to learn a (hmmm), unique report writing style and process based on an obscure book (the cover of which looks like something straight out of a well-known contemporary cult). Little to no training available outside of Cambridge if you have not been an analyst prior to being hired. Sink or swim on your own (going in as an analyst). I spent the two most miserable years of my professional life here.

Team is a mess

Pros

As many of these reviews so rightfully pinpoint, it’s the people.

Cons

Contrary to everything they stand for, Forrester does not put its clients or employees first. It’s all about $$$ and reoccurring revenue. They make massive shifts and then expect client-facing employees to take the heat. We’re set up for failure. All of these time-consuming changes are about “CV” and clients are well-aware. What’s more frustrating is that we have every ability to deliver a solid experience, but we keep dropping the ball. It’s hard to watch things play out this way when there’s a clear market opportunity. Also, the pay …. It’s low. It’s real low. And it’s really low to pay your employees this low in this economy. No promotions, except for the ones who posted their promotions on LinkedIn … ? Odd. Forrester is taking advantage while making lay offs and pretending it’s on us to find money under rocks while we get zero enablement. Something has to give here.
