Pros

Time off. Good balance between work and family. I absolutely loved the school I was working at, everyone there was nice and helpful.

Cons

Salary. FBISD has the worst salary for paraprofessional and HR sucks. It took me over a month to find out about my salary and I had to deal with so many attitude it turned my stomach. Basically what happened was they said I was “misinformed” from the beginning. When I went to onboarding (orientation) I asked would my salary be adjusted once my service records were received they say yes. Told me someone would contact me with my new salary. BUT after a month I called HR and inquired why my salary had not been adjusted they told me only teachers use services records to get a pay increase not paras. So when I asked about the service records they assumed I was a teacher. So no matter your experience or education you make the same amount. 20,000 a year. I started after school started so my salary 18,277.22. That’s 765 bi weekly and roughly about 500 after you pay your taxes and benefits. So if you can live off that God Bless you. I can’t and I will be moving on. If you’re not a teacher don’t even bother.

Worst Benefits I've Ever Had

Pros

Benefits are provided at a minimum level

Cons

If you lose an immediate family member, no bereavement leave is offered. They also don't offer a leave bank for employees to donate a day. So in the event of an emergency, you might end up in dire circumstances and without pay.

Pros

Working with children and within the community

Cons

I was actually told by a Supervisor Erica in the Extended Day program that I had it good and that I needed to go to back to where I belonged. When I asked for an explanation for the move across town her reply was she needed me to do what I was told and go to where she needed me to be. My father had just died and I worked at a school in Sugarland and I had worked for the company for years. Through such a hard time in my life I was talked to like a dog and forced me to relocate to a school in Missouri City way across town from where I lived. They will also Blackball you so when other jobs within or without the company call them for a reference they will discredit you and see that you don't get the job.
