They know Dev

Pros

I've been using these guys for the past year and a half and they have had some great results with me. I oversee UI and RoR teams and have been overseeing similar teams for the past 5 years. Until working with Fortitude it had been very hard to grow each team, aka find great developers. These guys seems to find the niche developers quickly. I've hired on 2 developers for each team since we agreed to do business and all 4 developers have done great work so far.

Cons

Not many, they do move fast so as a hiring manager you have to be prepared to move fast as well. In the software world I'd rather have my recruiting firm have a fire behind them. They have missed a couple times but it hasn't been often based on the amount of times I've worked with them.

Grow up real fast/relationships are KING/contribute from the beginning

Pros

I've had to grow up pretty quickly in this place. I've been held to a standard by the leaders here that only coaches in sports have really held me to. And I love the aspect of what that gives me. Sports in high school and college gave me a sense of camaraderie and an avenue for doing things and being passionate. Fortitude, in hiring a lot of ex athletes and leaders, fosters the same values similarly to any kind of team or organization trying to grow and "master its craft" (a phrase you'll hear quite a bit from the leaders). As a result, competition, hard work, and most definitely , culture and relationships are the gas in the tank at this place.

Cons

You really have to immerse yourself to get what you want out of fortitude. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. You should probably do that in anything you do. But one thing to know is that if you're not prepared to give 100% to anything or immerse yourself fully, then this won't be the place, as the place is heavily in growth mode and the company holds itself collectively to that standard. But relationships are king at Fortitude. That's how the company builds with its clients and that's how it expects and wants to grow, internally. Culture is king and obviously is built off of relationships, from the owners all the way to the bottom or most recent person to start there. And that's cool. But not for everyone. With that said, it's not always going to be convenient to build relationships, but building them and collaborating is something you have to be comfortable with and enjoy to come to Fortitude.

Pros

The office culture is positive and the energy is always flowing. It's a growing company. If you are up for that task & get hired, you get the chance to be a person in a company and not a number. Since I got here 2 years ago, I have seen many people get promoted (I have been promoted 2x), i have seen some people 3 years out of college making very good money and receive stock in the company. I have seen new roles being created as the company has grown. There are a ton of pluses to working at a small company working to take over an industry. If you are driven and don't want the "Glass ceilings" that big companies have, this is a great place for that person.

Cons

One of the coolest things is the company ONLY promotes from within. This was very attractive to me. Everyone starts at the bottom; but that also means every now and then you will see someone become embittered by someone else getting promoted over them. That is not common, but its unfortunate when it does happen.
