Pros

Cool culture and fun events

Cons

This company is absolutely pathetic. They claim to be the most transparent and most caring about their employees. However, they are just filled with lies to try and keep people happy so they will shut up. All of these "positive" reviews you see on here are from current employees that were asked (forced) to put them up there... Or they come from the HR team. Those employees are probably afraid if they don't do it then they will get fired. Upper management has no clue what they are doing and honestly they do not care.  If you want to be left in the dark about everything that goes on.... then this could be a good fit for you. Otherwise, I would run.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Like many other companies interested in understanding employee sentiment, we invite employees to write an anonymous review about their experience working at Forward. We do not ask or require our team members to write positive feedback. Especially now that we are working remotely, we want to know what’s going well and what isn’t, to resolve problems promptly. We’re especially sorry to hear that you feel like there’s a lack of transparency. Ensuring that our team feels informed and connected is one of our top priorities. For example, we want team members to understand what’s expected of them, what they’re doing well, and how they can improve by providing timely performance feedback. Also, we send out a weekly anonymous survey inviting team members to include questions or comments to be addressed by the leadership team in the weekly company-wide huddles. If you have other recommendations on how we can create a greater sense of transparency, please feel free to email the People and Culture team at peopleandculture@forwardfinancing.com. Thank you!

Pros

Good culture on the sales and underwriting teams.

Cons

Micromanaging leadership: they're too inexperienced. No trust in the teams. Anger management issues. Outdated and ineffective interview processes driven by CEO and President. Unhealthy drinking culture marketed as fun and social: one of the longest tenured employees regularly talks about drinking too much, blacking out at holiday parties, etc. I've seen senior employees act inappropriately at company-sponsored events. It's uncomfortable even if you do drink. Almost no diversity except on the Account Services (collections) team: big on "hiring for culture" AKA attend all the social events that are "optional." Young, social people only. Lack of opportunity and growth: lots of lateral moves that they call "growth" when it's not. No training or support if you move into a managerial role.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Over the past year, COVID has prompted us to make a lot of changes to how we work, and we’ve added a lot of new processes so that we can maintain great communication while we’re all working remotely. However, we know that there’s still more we can do to help employees have a sense of autonomy. For example, we recently conducted a 360 review process for all leadership team members and managers to understand their strengths and development areas better. Also, our People and Culture team is currently working on a new manager onboarding process and a 6-month manager training program. If you have any other recommendations on how we can provide more resources for managers, please reach out to the People and Culture team - we are always looking for new ways to support our team members! Over the past year, we’ve held many fun social events, such as our holiday scavenger hunt and Family Feud events, that haven’t focused on drinking. Making sure our team members feel safe and comfortable to attend company events is a top priority once we get back to hosting in-person events. We agree that there’s still much more work we need to do in terms of diversity, equity, and inclusion, but we believe we’ve made progress over the past year. Recently She Geeks Out facilitated training sessions about eliminating bias in the recruiting and hiring process, and next month, we have a two-part inclusive culture workshop for all people leaders. Also, our DEI committee has organized informal coffee chats and professional speakers to facilitate meaningful conversations around race and diversity. If you have any other suggestions on how we can make Forward a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, please let the People and Culture team know. Thank you, People and Culture team
