Pros
Since working at Forward, I've noticed I don't get that pit in my stomach on Sunday nights. I love my job, my team, my peer group, the exec-level leaders, and just the overall feeling of this company. Really, really solid group of people. Forward follows a regimented approach to hiring that helps bring great, new talent to the company. Everyone is smart, collaborative, helpful, believes in the business and its mission, and genuinely nice. I know "culture" is such a buzz word, but I find the culture so wonderful. I love that I can choose to go into the office or choose to work from home. I love that the People & Culture team are SO good at creating ways to connect both in-person and remotely. I love that I feel encouraged to bring my whole self to work – I'm a full-time working mother, and Forward has made striking that balance easier than any other place I've worked. There's a huge focus on recognition and making sure people feel appreciated for the work they do and how it contributes to the company's success. Very competitive compensation package, and lots of opportunities for career growth for high performers. Not a lot of red tape and politics to manage around.
Cons
It's getting better, but the business strategy and leadership tend to be a little short-sighted. There is a lot of focus on how to optimize the current situation, sometimes at the expense of the long-term vision. The company could benefit from having someone other than the CEO and President focused on running the operations. The company has grown to a level that having a single senior leader responsible for overseeing the operational elements of the business would be valuable.
