Pros

I have been working at Foss Swim School for a little over 2 months now, and they have been so welcoming and friendly. As I was going through the long online training, I overheard their friendships and was worried I would be the new outsider, but they have gone out of their way to make me feel included. When I need help with a class on how to correct something, it's easy to as a TA, manager, or even another teacher next to me for advice. I absolutely love working here so far.

Cons

Only open one weekday in the morning, so most shifts are nighttime and weekends. Which is working fine for me, but may be an issue for others.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We’re thrilled to hear how welcomed and included you’ve felt at FOSS — it’s truly our goal to create an environment where everyone feels they belong from day one. Your dedication to our mission and openness to learning have been a wonderful addition to the team, and it’s fantastic to hear that you feel comfortable asking for support whenever you need it. Thank you for being a part of our community and for bringing your passion to the pool each day! We understand that evenings and weekends make up a significant portion of our schedule. This is when many of our students are available, and we’re dedicated to being there for them at the times that work best for their families. That said, we truly appreciate your feedback, and we do our best to accommodate team members' scheduling needs whenever possible. Thank you again for being such a valuable part of our FOSS family!

Pros

If you can stay upbeat and active, this is the job for you! They teach you a lot about safety and teaching children. I loved my manager, he was truly the most supportive person I have ever met.

Cons

If you are looking for a "chill" job... maybe reconsider? The pay is really nice but they expect a lot out of you. People tend to get hired then quit shortly after because of the responsibility throughout the training process. again I loved this job... wouldn't describe it as "chill"

Foss: Great place to work!

Pros

If you're looking for a flexible place to work, the managers will work with you to optimize your schedule depending on the business's current demands. The schedule is set every week, and there are huge incentives to substitute teach ($3/hour more!). Plus, everyone there is passionate about what they do, so being there is almost like being a family with them.

Cons

This job is demanding and a little draining as you're working in a very warm pool with lessons back to back. The chlorine can be much, so make sure to bring lots of lotion for when you're done. They also have high standards for their employees (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), so as long as you do your best every day, you should be good to go.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate the flexibility we strive to provide and that the extra incentives for substitute teaching are a plus for you. It’s wonderful to know that the team feels like a family—this is exactly the atmosphere we want to foster, with everyone committed to creating a positive environment. We understand that the role can be physically demanding, especially with the warmth of the pool and chlorine exposure. Your advice on bringing lotion is spot-on! And yes, we do set high standards because we want our employees and students to have the best possible experience. We’re grateful for your dedication and commitment to giving it your all each day. Thanks again for sharing your insights!
