I regret to say that my time at Fourth was a major disappointment, and I would not recommend working here. From top to bottom, the company is disorganized, and despite my successful sales career, this job was simply not a good fit for me and clearly others who have recently quit.
Fourth seems to be riding the "HotSchedules name to stay relevant, but in the process, they're tarnishing its reputation. What was once a respected brand is slowly being dragged down by the company's lack of direction and poor execution.
I was hired under the impression leads would come occasionally from Marketing or other team members, but what I received were mostly service calls and unqualified meetings. I never got a single marketing lead, and prospecting in my territory were brutal. I often overlapped other reps and their processes and this caused confusion. The data was outdated and filled with wrong numbers, and Salesforce was no help. They even mandated 50 dials per day, which left no time for proper background research or finding quality prospects.
While I closed deals and had a strong pipeline, it was clear that the system was broken. All teams had trouble hitting quotas and expectations except a few select reps that were were given special leads and information that the rest of us never had access to.
The top people on the back-end teams quit often, and it made everything worse. Without experienced staff in service and implementation, deals stalled waiting for redlines and approvals, and sales teams are left scrambling to save deals and look like a proper company. Management needs to focus on retaining key employees and improving support to avoid these constant issues. Otherwise, the whole system will continue to break down.
I was initially told there would be no micromanagement, but that was far from the case. You need approvals for everything, yet upper management constantly hounded us on every deal, with little regard for client needs or a smooth process. It was all about closing deals before the next board meeting to provide numbers. Prior to my leaving I was honestly expecting a sale of the company to a new Holding Company.
If you're considering a role at Fourth, I suggest any of the other payroll companies who have order, structure and decent management. The structure, support, quality employees and opportunities simply aren’t there.
