Pros

1.Excellent work-life balance 2.CEO 3.Transparent Appraisal process

Cons

1. Cheap mentally people who get hired laterally at Lead or Consultant level and have no idea about the company culture or the kind of work which is being executed 2.These leads or consultants feels that doing hands-on work is well below their pay-grade and does not show any inclination towards learning the work and share the work-load. 3.These leads or consultants will leave at 6 pm sharp whereas the entire team of Analysts and Senior Analysts will slog till mid night 4. The 8-9 hours spent by the Leads or Consultants in the office is broken down as follows - Play online games...Skype with their spouses...Involve in back-bitching and playing politics to take away the credits of Analysts or Senior Analysts... 5.As per our CEO every employee of Fractal is first an Analyst and then his respective designation, so according to him every employee should know hands-on work. When this point was raised in one of the team meetings, one of the VP level employee said he disapproves of what the CEO preaches. (Mr. CEO, whom should we listen to - your open ended assurances or the people who call the shots in project execution and treat Analysts/Senior Analysts as slaves) 6.The biggest account of Fractal has a number of Analytics Leads and Senior Consultants who have ruined the career of I don't know how many Analysts and Senior Analysts by taking away their credit for personal growth

Pros

1) Exec Management - Very smart. Know their stuff; seem to complement each other very well 2) People principles - amazing! 3) Flat org structure - truly tries hard to have an open structure 4) Trust & a feeling of belonging. Once a Fractalite, always a Fractalite 5) Dissent is not discouraged, you can speak up and you will be heard; regardless of your designation

Cons

1) Lateral hiring - Lot of new people & quality of lateral hires over past few months does not seem uniform. This is a problem across all levels - even Apex level. 2) Slow movement on the new location and office setups. 3) Onsite roles are low. How do you keep top talent from leaving? Reactive H1/work visa applications. All of the above can be fixed.

Pros

Key aspects that I like here: 1. Freedom to find your own sweet spot and shape your career. 2. What counts the most to grow is your strong intent and initiatives to build skills and drive the project, no matter which designation you are. If you are able to show the right ownership, you will get noticed and immense opportunities open up for growth in role. 3. We can learn a lot from multi-stakeholder environment and in many cases, we are in a position to push the business to drive higher business value and free to lead it end to end. We are treated as true partners and our suggestions and recommendations count a lot unlike other vendors. 4. Focus on outcomes without being pushy on how to achieve it. There is enough flexibility for people to get their work done keeping in mind their own constraints. Even in difficult situations, we collaboratively try and solve it instead of enforcing our ways to get work done. This has been tricky but we try our best to make this our way of life. 5. I have seen some of the most internally motivated and inspiring leaders here at every level who are amazing to work with. You do not feel stressed at all and can completely trust them to handle situations. Some of them seem to care about business objectives even more than the client, which is why we have great client relationships across projects.

Cons

With great freedom, comes great responsibilities. While most of the team members realize it, some of them seem to take it for granted. Flexibility to change projects works well but only if team members understand their responsibility towards existing projects and client rapport. Hence while we are growing our employee count, it is becoming difficult to sustain the culture by hiring people who have right attitude and values. We are counting a lot on trust and accountability hence any lapse here paralyses the system. While quite a few projects have high reporting nature, there is significant business value that we can drive. However, it is difficult to explain or understand that when we only talk of advanced analytics in our external speech. Team don't feel enough value in what they are doing, while they may be bringing high business impact. It is important to make people realize the value in their everyday work else we may lose a lot of business due to disengagement and frequent change in projects.
