Pros

-Pay is good. It helps pay the bills. -Easy work.

Cons

-Difficult to get time off when needed, especially for school. -Schedule changes are frequent, sometimes a day before your shift. I've already forwarded it to our union. -Customer attitudes have increasingly gotten work over the last three years. I don't go a work day without an insult about my intelligence. -I never see my manager on the floor. -A LOT of store gossip and he says/she says.

Pros

Great job for an unskilled worker Person in charge (PIC) has useful advice, positive attitude No manager on duty to watch over you Given a generous amount of hours even as a new PT employee Co-workers all have a good work ethic

Cons

Hard work will most likely go unnoticed Advancement is slow Job is very hard on the body Management uses fear mongering to keep employees on edge, creates stressful environment Large company policies Must join a union, which doesn't offer much to entry level employees

Pros

- Store discounts! Discounts! Discounts! - Coworkers are great to work with. - Upper management is normally understanding and respectful of their employees. - They will work around your class schedule. - Movement upwards is possible. - Union protection.

Cons

- Union dues are $150 to start. - There is no free coffee! - Pay is not that high. Tips are also not allowed for the Starbucks proportion because Fred Meyer technically rents the Starbucks name and you are a Fred Meyer employee. Fred Meyer does not allow employees to be tipped. - Sometimes they will keep someone on staff who should be let go. - Insurance is not given to part time employees. - Training can be minimal at times.
