Pros

None since the new management

Cons

Ever since FreshDirect was bought, the new management has seemingly gone out of its way to make working there miserable. No communication was given to employees about new plans or policies and entire departments were laid off. Department managers were laid off so we had no direction on what we were supposed to be doing, and were never approached by Getir (the new owners) on what was needed. After the new management took over, office employees were given less than 24 hours notice that their hybrid schedule would now be a full-time, in office schedule. The new CEO spent his time hanging out the security desk to check that people were clocking in and telling us that any problems were our fault. Previously the job could be a little chaotic and unpredictable, but everyone there was generally upbeat and wanted to work together. With the constant turnover and low morale (at least one department has completely left) I doubt this company will be around much longer.

Nothing Positive - RUN

Pros

Honestly, nothing. In the past I would have talked about how great the workforce was, how driven and talented people were, but a series of aggressive changes and layoffs by new ownership has pushed out most of our best people.

Cons

New ownership has treated people completely inhumanely and without any respect or trust. Essentially every policy or program that FreshDirect had in place to benefit their workforce has been killed by Getir post acquisition, many of which were announced with very little notice. No remote work, no unlimited vacation or sick time, no summer hours. Extremely poor communication and support in the wake of sweeping layoffs at the beginning of 2024, which were seemingly made without any research into what people do or who they report to. Office is in a truly horrible location in the South Bronx, with most employees needing to take multiple trains to a shuttle bus and investing considerable time into their commute. Hours are not flexible and again, no remote work is allowed. They monitor badge swipes into the building and we've at times had to sign physical attendance sheets like we're children. It feels less like being an employee and more like being a prisoner.
