Pros

My immediate co-workers are very talented and great to work with.

Cons

They took away bonuses and merit increases for everyone but upper mgmt then tell you you’re lucky to have a job. I’ve almost been here 10 yrs and all positions that have opened that would be a promotion are filled from the outside with friends of upper mgmt. Also, all you get in terms of service rewards is 1 extra day of pto at 5 yrs then 1 more at 10... that’s it. You get Presidents’ Day off but day after thanksgiving and Christmas Eve you’re out of luck. And don’t even think that working remote is a possibility. You must be in office at all time except when you are working 90 hrs a week.

Pros

Frontier appears to be still hiring developers and I bet the pay is pretty good. The thing that makes this company great is the laid back environment and I bet it isn't too hard to get hired here either now. They try to stay up to date with technology and they have some pretty good developers.

Cons

Sometimes the management is too laid back. They allow anyone that appears to know they are doing run the show if that person is loud enough and sounds convincing enough. I didn't feel like anyone really had my back when I was there. My manager just let contract developers walk all over me and only acted like he was intervening. I worked my behind off trying to meet deadlines only to have those deadlines vaporize as soon as I met them because management didn't know what they wanted or some other dependent department would stop us or slow us down. The worst part was being constantly interrupted to do stupid bureaucratic nonsense .I would not work at Frontier again until they get rid of their contract developers and I am given authority to remove obstacles and people that get in the way of progress and innovation.

Pros

We were given a lot of excellent hands on training for 3 weeks prior to beginning to take phone calls or responding to problem tickets. My group of coworkers were great to work with and it was an all team effort. We had great bonus structures and incentives on top of our wages.

Cons

Frontier ended up closing our office only months after 100's of us were hired. They had taken over Verizon's land based services in 3 states and didn't account for the amount of problems that were going to take place. In order to make up for their losses our entire center was closed down with 100's of people losing their jobs. Some were close to retirement or had been there for 15 to 20 years. The loss of jobs deeply impacted the community in which it resided.
