Pros

As a charter county system schools have the ability (through an approval process) to make decisions about schedules, calendars, courses, programs, etc. independent of the county as a whole. This truly allows for schools to make decisions that are best for their population. What is best for the population of North County schools is not what is necessarily best for the population of South County schools. This better serves the students. The county is a "one-to-one" county which allows for all students to have their own personal device (Microsoft Surface, iPad, Chromebook etc.) and the individual schools had decision power in choosing the device they would distribute to students.

Cons

New initiatives EVERY year. Complete overhaul of what is expected of schools and teachers each and every year and these initiatives do not build on the year before. Teachers spend an entire year adapting to the new initiative only to have to throw it out the window the next year to adapt to the next plan.

Pros

-Still use the honor system for time keeping -Great benefits -Most leaders are flexible with work schedules as long as the work gets done

Cons

-Poor culture of passing policies and procedures on record for reference if one leader leaves suddenly. Too much time trying to figure it out. -Too many meetings that are unproductive -Pay is lower than private sector -No clear career path at the central office -Too many high degree people that are out of touch with grassroots efforts of talking ALL stakeholders of the school system -The district is too divided by race, social status...it has the feel of 2 districts rather then one fulton that they boast about -Too many GREAT employees getting mistreated by executives that have poor people skills
