Pros

If you are a college student, looking for a second job to help make ends meet, retired, or looking for a low skilled position that requires little skill or intelligence being a security officer is tolerable.

Cons

Do not work at a hospital as a security guard, period. The things you are asked to do and the people you are required to deal with will often land yourself in compromising positions both emotionally and physically. Moving dead bodies, dealing with emotionally distraught family members, mental health patients and others with potentially harmful bloodborne diseases and virues. This is not simply a check and make sure the doors are locked and securing property you are the first person called to deal with hospital patients and family disputes; the local police will come but are not very willing or supportive if constantly called. Like all the other reviews, management is looking for warm bodies and are quick to tell you that they will throw you under the bus if you make the slightest mistake or do anything beyond what your scope of work details. Even though they admit that it varies from post to post and the their account contract states you will do x,y, and z you maybe doing so at your own peril since you are only legally covered by the company's standard security guard rules, procedures, and duties that you were taught. Also, you will not have access to any kind of company document that details what your responsibilities are, or a copy of the uniform and equipment inventory sheet you are issued from which you may a dispute a company charge. Lastly, dont even think about medical benefits. Pay was $8 and hour, take home was $250 a week and monthly benefits would have been $400.
