Pros

GE in general is a great company to work for. Being a multi-national conglomerate, opportunities abound. I do believe that GE is driving innovation throughout all products and segments. Healthcare is broad and deep, from biopharmaceuticals to imaging, cardiolgy, monitoring devices to healthcare IT. I honestly belive that GE Healthcare is "at work for a healthier world". I also like the potential opportunity to move to other areas in GE, however it does seem that the only people who actually move from Plastics to Healthcare or Healthcare to Aviation are the "legacy GE leaders" - those individuals who started with GE and have moved up through the ranks. It seems harder for those of us who were "acquired" as a result of mergers and acquisitions.

Cons

Although I am proud to say I work for GE and GE Healthcare, I am very disappointed with the direction that GE has taken with some of Healthcare IT solutions, particularly the perinatal and acute care EMR solutions. It seems that GE understands hardware very well and software not so well. A lot of the processes for developing and implementing software are adopted from hardware businesses and don't always fit. A piece of advise -if you are looking into getting in with GE Healthcare, don't do it through Seattle.

Pros

Hard to tell at this point.

Cons

• Company in decay, if you have talent go somewhere else. • Toxic Legacy people with more than 10 years or close to retirement,” traditionalist”, racist and discriminatory. • Racist, toxic work environment. • People with accent and foreign are strongly harassed. • Pose as a diverse company but this is not true in various areas. • Do not support pregnant women, specially from certain races. • Favoritism and poor management policies. If you are a wife of an executive or have the right friends, you can work remote. • HR is very rude and obnoxious.HR and Management hate complaints and protect racist workers. • Company cares more about written process compliance than customer satisfaction, unsatisfied end customers.

Pros

Pay is above average for this area. Work is interesting and gives plenty of opportunity for learning new skills. Flexible work hours are the norm.

Cons

GE's financial problems have created a chaotic and unstable environment. There have been a lot of layoffs and jobs moved offshore. You really don't know from one week to the next if you'll still have a job. "Knowledge Transfer" is the mantra when these actions are taken, as if years or decades of highly specialized engineering expertise can be easily transferred in a few meetings.
