Pros

Flexible work hours A lot of job autonomy Decent pay

Cons

Business is not managed well. They will hire like crazy, and then a few months later layoff a large number of people. One new hire we had needed to move into the area, and was laid off a week after he had made the move. In one group, the laid off a bunch of people two days before a new hire started. On one new project was working on there was a new feature they really wanted for the new product that did not fit into the product schedule. The plan for that feature changed at least a dozen times in a year. One week it was out, then in again, then out of the release again. It was crazy.

Hard company to work for lately

Pros

GE has a highly competitive culture that will push you to be your best and will help you develop your leadership skills.

Cons

Metrics and money are the holy grail. That's fine when the company is doing well, but it's been a long time since it's been doing well. It is just a perpetual beat down. No money for business travel, no money for IT investment, no money for training, no money for raises. And every year, we're told "we have to tighten our belts because it's going to be another tough year." And the insurance is just garbage.

Bad Management Practices

Pros

They have better retirement benefits than most

Cons

Company's only concern is making 1 billion in profit annually, they do this by not training, not providing cost of living raises and not having enough staff. Managers are horrible, untrained, plus you never see them or talk to them as they are too busy sitting in meetings and making reports to email to the team as a way to show how bad everyone is doing. They offer no assistance in doing your job, just add more to your plate, If you are a new Biomed Tech I suggest looking elsewhere, their training is the worst I have ever seen. If you do decide to work here, negotiate high your starting salary because you will have to leave after a couple years to get paid your value.
