Pros

Excellent management - focused on "GE Values", which are a great recipe for building a wonderful place to work - e.g., inclusiveness, expertise, imagination. Management clearly believes in AND acts on these values. Absolute integrity is a company standard - everyone signs up for and must comply with both the spirit and the letter of the laws and regulations surrounding the company. The company clearly wants high quality behind the GE nameplate, and endeavors to make this a reality. The company places a heavy reliance on Lean, in a variety of ways.

Cons

Compensation generally doesn't seem to be "market leading", and stock options don't exist for most employees. You can (and will) do excellent work at GE, and may even excel, but you're unlikely to get rich.

Pros

Excellent Product, Fair Management. Good training and name recgonition. Great teamwork. Employees are expected to exceed goals and create a career path that is supported and nurtured by management. Healthcare Benefits are good with vision and other options available.

Cons

Currently looking at layoffs, unsure of who it will effect. Management expects you to work beyond typical hours. You need to be available by phone on vacation.

Pros

The best thing about working for GE is the cool stuff that they design.

Cons

Some of the downsides of working for GE is the poor locations. GE Healthcare is located in WI and there isn't a terrible amount of activities in that city. They sometimes don't hire back other coop students without giving them feedback on their decision to not continue the coop. The student had to find out themselves when they didn't hear anything from GE. Informing the student professionally would of been the smart decision. Since GE is a big company, it takes a lot of time to complete simple tasks.
