      Direct impact on human health, contribute to major medical improvements.

      Cons

      Can be very bureaucratic and political. Appearance often more important than actual contribution. "Who you know more than what you know."

      The company is massive, with all the weight that comes with that size. Ability to learn, lots of smart people, very ethical with considerable oversight

      Cons

      The focus is on the number. This has not been a very successful strategy throughout GE based on the stock price but in the 20 years I was there it never changed. Improve the focus to breakthrough products, and service,

      Pros

      Make sure to negotiate the highest salary possible before you take a role as you will not get raises.

      Cons

      No raises year after year. Extremely high pressure, stress, around the clock hours and no recognition. Horrible work/life balance. GE and the job come first, family and personal time come second or third...... GE is closing many locations across the US over the next few years so be warned. They want the company to be completely run by their OMLP (leadership program out of college) and if you are not a member of that program you can forget promotions or moving up in the company.
