Pros

Large corporation very stable, good catalog of product offerings, large market segments. Ultrasound Field engineers are a good bunch, they look after each other.

Cons

The ultrasound business used to be a great business to work for until it was merged with the dianostic imaging business, which is a dying business. DI management is archaic and unable to handle the dynamic and vibrant growing needs of the ultrasound business, its employees, and customers. The DI culture is also very cliquey and not very inclusive, they are judgemental and think the ultrasound business is inferior. I don't understand how that behavior contributes to the big picture.

Pros

Lots of technology to monitor things

Cons

Health benefits are horrible now. (they used to be excellent) Very hard to advance unless your are friends with the hiring manager There is a mindset against advancing technical people into management. Currently our leadership is dominated by MBAs who have no clue how to lead or communicate with customers. SRI (service reimagined initative) is a redesign of the service method where we cross train each Engineer 3 modalities deep and support him with an Ipad. As opposed to the expert system we currently employ where an Engineer is a modality expert. This little disaster will destroy our customer relationship as we send people who are barely trained into situations that are over their heads and ask them to "facetime" with an expert on an Ipad and assume the customer will never notice. People doing horrible work never get fired here, it's amazing how we carry people at all levels who are simply not suited for the job they have. As a result, they damage customer relationships and we give them a raise at the end of the year.

Another cog in the wheel

Pros

-GE Healthcare looks great on any resume - first hand experience with office politics. - pay is average

Cons

- Cog in the wheel. - you honestly could have found the cure for cancer and it would get lost in all the workflows and red tape - some employees could come and go as they please 9am-3pm - other employees are docked for not being there 7:30-530 - everyone walks around with scours on their faces - a lot of back door politics you have to be cognizant of
