Pros

Straight overtime for salary folk on the production floor. Never will be bored. Plenty of learning opportunities to show how not to organize or manage a production environment.

Cons

Long days (12+ hrs) plus weekends will be spent In the shop. You will not see the sun in winter. Management effectiveness is measured in decibels. No hint of an opportunity to grow or diversify. You are measured on several metrics that are directly contradictory, ensuring you will fail in some way everytime. Upon failure, you will be publicly ridiculed on your appearance, personality, gender, and maybe (in part) about the actual failure to perform to above metrics. No instruction or coaching or advice in how to improve.

Pros

Used to be many. Not recommending anyone to join at this time. I'm leaving, after over 20 years, and starting over where I will be utilized. Good for young people with no experience.

Cons

Hours, pay, benefits, elitism is on the rise, promoting good talkers, no rewards for the doers. No respect for young people with real talent.

Cons

- Mid career professionals struggle within the company (very limited investment and training) - HR offers no value to help employees grow their career - GE has no place for individual contributors only leaders and project managers thrive - GE seldom promotes in current job titles it is instead encourage to switch jobs - Many of the retirements a forced by emails sent to retiree distibution list - If you're over 40 forget about a leadership opportunities coming your way
