Pros

Benefits okay, used to be great/better than others, now not any better than anywhere else and gets worse each year Only pro is getting to work with good people

Cons

Not expected GE Culture; Still runs like box business; No investment into quality; Office politics out of control Spends/Gives Co-op and Interns more support than employees - most don't come back after what they see, just want GE on their resume; complete lack of care to employees well-being. No work/life balance - expect to work 7x24.

Pros

Job security. Still a good name to have in your resume

Cons

• Little or no training except for a very few selected ones • Cheap, cheap. Poor performance has put pressure on everything including travel, and training • Jack Welch’s GE is gone. Layers and layers of bureaucracy have been created with mediocre and unprepared Managers. • The employee evaluation system is outdated • Metrics and useless processes are a waste of time and money and become extremely frustrating for an employee that really wants to get his job done • High turnover, especially young employees • Bad healthcare benefits • Terrible computer/IT resources • Politics and backstabbing culture

Pros

Who wouldn't want to work on locomotives? Opportunity to see all systems, work with engineering, manufacturing and field service. The job was always interesting. The technology is progressing rapidly. This job was seriously fun at times.

Cons

Oppressive work environment, excessive demands, grueling schedules, understaffed. Weekends? Yeah right... Managers with no apparent qualifications promoted. "Diversity" hiring to the extreme. Recent foreign grads hired over much more qualified American workers. Zero appreciation for what you just did, what will you do for them tomorrow? (And it better be done TOMORROW!)
