Pros

Good health insurance. I learned from traveling that all other benefits depend on location and compensation tiers, apparently. If you have the RIGHT manager, and are in the right position, things can be okay. There are some brilliant and hard working people in the org who can be great to work with.

Cons

More often than not, you'll have the wrong manager, and the wrongs tend to fill the chain of command. Very class based culture. HR is clueless and does everything they can to protect the corporate dysfunction. Dangerously bad-informed management make decisions, grab their bonuses, and leave everyone else emptyhanded with raises ranging from little to laughable, and delayed to cancelled bonuses (for those lucky enough to be told their eligible.

Pros

Fast paced environment Full ownership of work Employee friendly company policies

Cons

No growth in terms of position or salary! Levels are way below the market while you are expected to work all times including weekends! If you’re new, you won’t know what to do and who to meet… you will be lost in the 100,000 people! Company policies, though good, are not followed in a similar fashion for all Bureaucracy at each level

Pros

- Looks great on your resume (This will seriously open doors for you) - Amazing growth opportunities - GE does a great job of developing and promoting their talent - GE tends to promote from within - Gives you access to projects that you wouldn't find anywhere else (I once installed a security appliance in a power plant in the middle of the dessert) - Incredible budget for education - Access to top notch education - Really great colleagues (Some are frustrating and play politics, the overwhelming majority are really a pleasure to work with.

Cons

- A lot of politics. Being right isn't enough, you have to be right and ensure that no one in the hierarchy feels threatened. Alot of people don't even do this, they just kiss up to their manager and play politics in lieu of following best practices and being correct. Ultimately this lead to me leaving - Health insurance was not very good (which was surprising) - A lot of beauracracy - Pay is below industry standard and in general raises/bonus don't keep pace
