Pros

In this full employment environment - I can't think of any at GEA - so unless you are desperate - stay away from GEA - especially if you are considering a career.

Cons

Demand to see a copy of the Hive Off manual sent to firing managers - It states that 'age' can be used in determining who to lay off

All Except One, One-GEA

Pros

Good products and many good people Flexible work hours Adequate pay and benefits are good if you work at a plant besides Galesville, WI

Cons

The "Hive-off" (downsizing) done as part of the restructuring to One-GEA was pretty clearly done by age (top down). That didn't get costs down far enough so the North American management team decided to cancel health insurance at one plant that had many long time employees. Those that didn't have a spouse with health care were forced to find private insurance or Obamacare, or leave. Many have done the latter. While people in Galesville were scrambling to find health coverage in November and December last year, the other North American plants were doing open enrollment and got a note talking about how great it was that their health care costs weren't going up.

Thank you for the review. We are sorry that you felt our restructuring was unfair. It is always a difficult decision to lay-off employees. We value all of our employees. The Company has a rigorous review process that looks to retain the employees that can continue to perform the statement of work. The Company offered the required minimally essential coverage, as well as, a wage stipend for employees to buy insurance through the exchange. We are proud of our values, and try to demonstrate them in all of our work. Thank you again for the review. Demile Robinson Gilmore Vice President, Human Resources North America and Latin America

Pros

Adequate wages, global presence, huge market presence in food processing.

Cons

Management all recently centralized in Germany. Benefits are cut to benefit the quarterly financial statements, poor communication internally, almost impossible to get anything accomplished -- terrible teamwork.
