I am very pleased to hear you describe your experience with us as collaborative, technically challenging with a focus on delivering value to our clients. You highlighted some of the most important components that contribute to our company’s culture. It’s what we strive for when it comes to our employees and clients. We seek to hire and retain the top talent in our industry and connect them with our clients and projects that are highly engaging and rewarding to both. As we continue to grow our talent at about 10 percent per year, we seek an ever-diverse skillset of individuals with unique backgrounds, perspective and experiences that allow us to deliver value added services that exceeds our client’s expectations. It’s true that it takes a lot of effort and individuals who are self-motivated to be successful in our industry. As GEI engineers and scientists, we are committed to delivering value added solutions, on time and on budget to our clients. It’s my hope that those sometimes long days are filled with fulfilling work, alongside colleagues that are equally as engaged and that you learn from each other as you work on projects that are unique and offer a meaningful experience. I’m glad to hear that you’ve connected with our wealth of knowledge in our senior and principal leaders. They are here to guide and mentor you as the future leaders of GEI. I believe listening to and interacting with our clients and employees is critical to the continued success of GEI and will remain unchanged regardless of our size. I appreciate your input and feedback.

Pros

Since starting at GEI more than a year ago, I've been more than pleasantly surprised and at GEI’s great work environment. We work hard because we want to give our best. As someone new to consulting when I joined, I was concerned that I would have to build a book of business immediately. GEI leaders were very supportive of me thinking long-term and strategically. They are focused on what we do and how we do it for all the right reasons, which has allowed me to develop and execute a strategy that could be more sustainable over the long run. GEI Leadership has urged me to keep doing my best and "have fun." As a result, GEI's philosophy shows through. Clients want to work with us because the company is comprised of smart, dedicated personable people (not just traditional "professionals") with integrity. GEI also understands the importance of workplace flexibility and being client driven. It’s all what makes GEI great.

Cons

None in the time I have been at GEI.

As a Vice President and senior leader, we appreciate hearing that GEI’s work environment has supported you in creating a strategy and building your practice. As a thriving mid-sized firm, we pride ourselves in creating an environment where senior practitioners have the support and autonomy they need to build a thriving practice and support their clients. We hope that as we continue to grow and execute our strategic plan, more senior leaders will choose GEI as the place they bring their water, energy, buildings, infrastructure and industrial practices. Thank you for your focus on our clients, helping to support GEI’s future success and helping to create exciting project opportunities for junior and mid-level staff. And we agree, having fun is part of the job too.

Thank you for commenting on many of the components that make up our company’s culture. As we work together in support of our clients, we focus on building and maintaining a work environment where our hard working and dedicated employees thrive by working on challenging projects and therefore gain growth opportunities and have some fun along the way. We do pay attention to our performance through various metrics. With that said, we strive to strike a balance between metrics and other non-measurable attributes that help us maintain our many employee benefits, reasonable return to our shareholders (employees) and bring exceptional value to our client’s projects. Thank you for your remarks and for your efforts to support our clients and company’s success.
