Pros

Opportunity to move to different departments. Given that you work within 50 miles of your office location.

Cons

I’m a 6 year employee with an excellent metric record. 3x GEICO Chairman. Given permission to move from Lakeland to Jacksonville during COVID given that I maintain my 4.6 - 4.8 out of 5 metrics. I have done that. New rule this June? You have to live within 50 miles of the co to work there. They will not allow me to work out of the Boat claims office here in Jacksonville. Even though the manager gave me permission to if they approved. They have not even offered me a position out here or another option. Just letting it sit in the air . So now I have to figure out how to take care of my family after June 10th.

Pros

Benefits are decent. Health insurance, dental, 401k, etc.

Cons

Excessive workload. No cost of living adjustments to most salaries. Associates who take vacation or approved FMLA are held to the same productivity standards as those who did not take any time off. If you take time off for a surgery or vacation, you are less likely to get a raise because your prod will be lower. Employees are being forced to return to the office 2 days per week despite being told previously that we could permanently work from home if we met certain standards. Many departments have had better performance since working from home and many of our biggest competitors offer permanent WFH positions. GEICO offered short term disability benefits for one year through the Hartford. Employees didn't have a good experience with the Hartford. Instead of using a different method to offer STD benefits, they eliminated STD altogether. GEICO used to offer profit sharing and has eliminated the profit sharing program with no type of bonus to replace it. Our CEO has received a 13.6 million salary two years in a row despite the company taking record losses in 2022. Sadly, GEICO is no longer the company it used to be.
