Pros

The culture can be positive and having a good time is valued. Coordination is convenient.

Cons

Considerable overtime, extreme favoritism, lack of growth, change of expectations as well as repetitive work. People are left on a project type for years regardless of asking for change. Management doesn't stand up for their people and people who chose to leave disappear without anyone noticing. When asked what you can do to improve the answer is work more hours and at a faster pace. If you want a happy career this isn't the place for you.

We appreciate your candor and are committed to restoring the “shine” that you once felt. As you state, culture is extremely important to us, and we know that culture is more than fun activities – it is about creating a work environment where our team feels motivated, appreciated, and engaged. Rapidly growing companies such as Galloway are in a unique position of maintaining the work-life balance that we value, while meeting client expectations and schedules. Growth can be challenging, and oftentimes changes within a position can’t be addressed at the pace you may desire. Please know that we are always working towards improvement, and we are cognizant of the challenges faced within our teams.

Pros

Lots of opportunities abound if you are an engineer. Good experience working with corporate, commercial, real estate land development experience. Senior management does a good job keeping the team informed on company goals. Review process was straightforward.

Cons

work life balance is difficult. Expect to work many many hours for their clients. Bonuses were told are based on metrics but hinge more on subjective opinion as better metrics yr/yr did not reward better bonus.

It's great to hear that you see the laid-back culture as a pro in this office. I would encourage you to speak with your Regional Manager or the Director of Land Development about the challenges you reference with leadership and management. There are a few other ways to reach out including providing more detailed anonymous feedback via TINYpulse, our employee engagement platform. Also, I'm always available to listen if you would like to talk.
