Pros

Knowing that at the end of the day our work has taken hold and changed how our clients do business is extremely empowering. However, I would say how we get to that point is what makes it a great place to work on a daily basis. Our consulting practice relies on the expertise and background of our team members, understanding of the clients business and industry knowledge as well as research methodologies that are unparallelled. Pulling all this together to solve a clients issue is pretty great way to spend a workday.

Cons

Gallup's feedback loop could be a little more "in the moment". You need to know where you need to improve so that you can work on it.

Pros

Gallup is in the middle of the biggest organizational change in its history. It has an unbelievable amount of research depth on human nature, and is poised to change the world if it can get its consulting model right. It is exciting to be a part of the 3 or 4 newest projects, that are big, meaningful, and enormously impactful. The company is playing in a space it wasn't playing in 5 years ago.

Cons

The changes strike right at the heart of the company. Gallup cares a lot about its people, and must balance and position long time associates in spaces they can succeed, which may not be at the level where the company is going. A new pedigree of consultants are being recruited to fulfill the future vision of the company, and there is conflict.

Pros

Great brand reputation Inspiring CEO Excellent work-life balance for some roles Solid compensation plans for some roles Hands-off management style using "go-tos" rather than line managers Excellent research and analysis resources if you have the initiative

Cons

Broken (and under construction) organizational culture Insular, opaque senior management/ownership Work-life balance varies greatly based on role ("churn and burn" client development personnel approach vs. over-tenured operations and principal personnel) Too much tenure, too little intellectual curiosity "Go-tos" have little influence or ability to help you attain your goals Extreme deficiency in knowledge sharing and communications channels
