Pros

Unique culture, people centered, interesting technical work, lots of different opportunities for cool technologies and challenging problems to work with.

Cons

It's easy and common to have time split between a couple projects. Lots of opportunities and interesting work come and go, but your availability may or may not line up with the work you find most interesting.

Pros

*Superb benefits package (fully paid insurances, large HSA and 401k contributions, 16 weeks paid parental leave) *Lots of transparency and forums to ask questions and receive feedback. *Collaborative, supportive culture that encourages problem-solving and trying new things *Smart, thoughtful, and dedicated employees that are mostly ego-less and just want to win as a team. *Encouraged to learn and try new things. Budget put in place to support new initiatives regularly.

Cons

*Takes time and effort to really learn how to navigate the "Collaborative Web" org structure. It requires deep investment in relationship building, self-advocacy, and strong communication skills. I think these are all "pros" but the "con" is that it just takes patience, and lots of grace to learn the ropes here. *Progress seems slow sometimes. This is because company initiatives often are handled through councils and rounds of company-wide input. If you are coming from a more rapidly-paced company, it can take getting used to the extremely collaborative methods here, which can be at the expense of efficiency and speed. Indeed, this is seen as a strength and we are expected to consider things through to the first principle before moving to action. *While hybrid and remote work has been a successful experiment the last 20+ months, a faction of the company leadership seems resistant to fully embrace and invest in new workplace strategies.

Pros

Really smart people at the tops of their respective fields. Most of the engineers do genuinely care about you as a person and want to help you succeed. Pay and compensation is completely transparent and negotiable. Fulfilling work. The stewarding practice is phenomenal. Dr. Mario!

Cons

The engineers are not always enabled to help you succeed. It is a very results over people company. They like to brag about how they take care of their people first but when it comes down to the wire they will protect their deliverables and start laying people off. Most of the turnover I saw while I was there was layoffs rather than voluntary separation. Feels a bit culty sometimes, and have heard others express this sentiment. Borderline cringe levels of focus on positives and not enough on how to improve or listen better; especially to minority opinions. CEO is a bit obnoxious and abrasive but it feels like he genuinely cares about everyone there. Leadership and some principals are not great at seeking to understand or serving as stewards despite those being core values. Easy to fall between the cracks and become lost. Advocating on behalf of others is explicitly discouraged even when someone is not being heard, so lots of things remain unsaid. Not having one manager can make it hard to know what you need to be doing. Little to no mental health support or understanding; they offload it to a third party company and do not have any real internal resources, support groups, or best practices for employees struggling with this.
