Pros

Support 1st responders! True collaboration working across the multiple units across the globe. Certainly some great people from the bottom all the way to the top!

Cons

Growth can be a con, as trying to find the individuals with the same passion and commitment is challenging. The current labor market shortage is felt here, where there are some "long" days due to job openings not filled.

Pros

The projects that Galvion is working on are very interesting and niche. The problems that need to be solved to get a product from an MVP to a production ready product in this space are never simple, which can be stressful and exciting at the same time. Work life balance is good, but can vary from position to position or project to project. Depending on your position or manager you could have the opportunity to work hybrid remote/in office.

Cons

**The CEO is more interested in employee acquisition rather than employee retention **No 401k matching The spread out nature of all the BUs/Offices can lead to communication and logistical problems with getting core components for a project from one facility to the next for testing, further development etc. The track for advancement at Galvion is not clearly defined. From what I saw, as a software engineer you could expect to be promoted once every 5 years. Going from levels 1, 2 or 3.

Pros

Active System unit is newer and is more like a startup within Galvion and may have a different culture than other parts of business. Unit is growing fast. I get to work on a lot of different technologies and problem domains - never boring. As a smaller company not every problem can be fixed immediately, but people are always willing to listen to ideas and empower us to provide solutions. The best part of the job is we invent. We start with an idea, put it to paper, and develop a product. It is great to be part of that process. Pay and benefits may not stack up to larger more established companies. Pay is fair. You can make more at a pure tech company. But at some tech companies you may be actively working against democracy. The mission matters at Galvion. My daily work results in keeping soldiers alive and making them more effective.

Cons

For a small company, operating in 4 locations is a lot. It can impede communications. You may have to take it upon yourself to get information. If you want to sit back and wait for someone to give you info, Galvion may not be the company for you. As stated in Pros, pay & benefits don't always match up. But when you look at the big picture, I am treated fairly within the company and am proud of the work I do. The biggest gap compared to larger companies is lack of retirement matching. I have hope that when some of the in-progress products come to market and some building expansion projects complete there will be more funds for improving benefits.
