The people are wonderful and the work is meaningful.

Cons

Many working within the agency are enforcing policies that they don't understand and therefore are not equipped to enforce properly. You then end up getting the runaround and having to explain to people things that they should know in order to do the job that they are doing. Pay is awful (be prepared to have an advanced degree and not be able to pay your bills and be on public assistance...), and you will be kept just under full time hours so that you don't qualify for benefits. While there are many wonderful people in the agency who give everything to what they do, there are many more who do not do their jobs and never see consequences for it. You will be doing their jobs, as well.
