      Pros

      Gamin has a very relaxed dress code. Engineers below the lead/manager level are very competent and have ideas for products to propel Garmin forward.

      Cons

      Some Leads/Managers hold the positions they have by tenure at Garmin rather than knowledge and skillset. It's all about cutting costs and cutting corners.

      Pros

      Exciting technology and good, nice people make for a mostly interesting work experience. The benefits are solid, and the pay is reasonable.

      Cons

      There is no backwards reporting structure. Everything management decides is golden; whether in regard to a product design decision or a personnel action. If a manager says it, it must be true. Hr is there to support the management structure, not to help the employee or to look for honest compromises.

      No promotions (10yrs wait to go from software engineer to senior software) Recent belt-tightening has the unfortunate side-effect of making some good talent leave Stock has taken a huge beating due to free smartphone navigation applications. Uncertain future due to market uncertainties
