Pros

Free food on office days Only two office days

Cons

You get your accounts from an ae who transitioned or was promoted. By the time you meet the cio, he’s pissed about meeting so many new ae’s If you can’t talk about taylor swift and cats you won’t be a good fit. It is not uncommon to be assigned to a manager who is clueless because he or she was an ae last year.

Pros

Sales machine. Consistent execution on that front.

Cons

CEO is heartless. Incompetent CXOs. Horrible CHRO. Reptile. Not my word. Word used by many to describe her. The way they treated multiple folks towards the end of my tenure was traumatic. Story of many. Not just me. It took me a while after that to recover my faith in corporate leaders. Still not fully there. They have installed sales leaders in their OC recently, I firmly believe that is not going to help Gartner. What they need is product innovation. Product leadership has been suffering for a while. and continues to suffer. Go work here if you thrive on brown nosing senior execs. If you thrive on innovation, find something else.

Pros

> You get to talk/consult with people from lots of different companies and locations. > Many positions are remote, so you can work from home. > Though rare, there are some really bright people.

Cons

> Most analysts have little real-world experience in the areas they cover. Just check their LinkedIn profiles and see how many have unrelated bachelors from third-tier schools, and have spent their entire careers at Gartner. > Too many layers of middle management, many of whom are failed analysts that control content creation. > Formulaic research that follows well-established patterns. ChatGPT usually offers more insight. > Over-reliance on subjective metrics and forced ranking that punishes creativity. > IT department that operates nothing like what Gartner advises its clients to do. > Hero-worship of CEO who constantly tells people how to do their jobs. > Pandemic-era cost cutting has resulted in lower operating costs but far less customer face-to-face interaction.
