Pros

Literally a few but not worth the mental health damage that you'll get -Best sales training out there i'm pretty sure, you will be taught to sell pretty much anything in IT world and overcome objections -Great experience for right out of college - you are given a lot of responsibility and work closely with leaders (a type of job that usually requires a lot of years of experience)

Cons

-Underpaid -Impossible commission -All based on luck and your book of business -most management is AWFUL: micromanaging, fakeness, backstabbing - you can not trust anyone and I mean anyone (some do get lucky with a good manager but they are very rare) -you will feel like you're in high school trying to fit in -literally not enough territory making prospecting very hard -some of these startups don't have money for Gartner but you will be forced to push and sell -not enough time in the week to finish all of the work you have to do -too many responsibilities for one role and not enough pay: pretty much doing inside sales, customer success and account expansion (which is usually 3 different jobs in a company) -impossible to get promoted

Pros

Excellent work-life balance, especially for young families. Benefits are good but not spectacular. Pay is okay--average for comparable jobs in the Washington, DC area (it's near-indexed to local cost-of-living conditions). Colleagues are smart and friendly--many of the more experienced hires are academic or non-profit refugees.

Cons

Leadership lacks vision. There are like 12 generic company values and I can't remember any of them. Aside from growing the stock price, it's hard to see why we are doing what we're doing. Which is too bad--there is huge potential in the Research and Advisory model, but there doesn't seem to be a strategic vision behind it.

Pros

Experience with c-level executives, intro into broad technology terminology and industry knowledge, and SOME amazingly talented people. If you want to spring your career, and get play strong politics, this is a great 1.5 - 2 year oppbut you'll be happy leaving

Cons

Product, Marketing, Tech and Sales = 0 mutual understanding and real communication. Data is all over the place. politics, old school company, favortism, no innovation, profit company and not a growth company. I left feeling like id prefer the company to fail with all the pressure and obscene bs they put you through. Great springboard, though.
