Pros

High pay for entry level work Decent training 4 day work week When employees are happy its a great work enviroment

Cons

Toxic work environment - everyone is constantly upset with leadership and always ready to quit. The chain of command is extremely convoluted. There can be multiple Team leaders, Directors and Shift Leaders constantly enforcing different styles of management. You are a contractor, an expendable number, for a for profit private company. That four day work week? That does not always happen. You may end up working 8 days in a row. You may end up working a midnight shift and expected to work a day shift 24 hours later. You may receive a call and end up working a midnight shift one day after a day. They constantly hold the entry level employees to a standard that leadership does not follow.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry your experience here was a negative one. These are certainly things we can improve on, as with any company that may need to work on their leadership. The unpredictable schedule is unfortunately part of the industry and something we are always looking to improve.

Pros

-GDBA has continued to grow since I started in 2013, and it hasn’t shown any sign of slowing down. -Company is showing steady growth, which results in a premium opportunity to grow yourself and your career at a quick pace, given you prove your worth. -The room for personal/professional growth is abundant. -GDBA provides a Professional Leadership Track that prepares protectors for future leadership positions at GDBA or in their next career. Continued training, core values and executive leadership involvement is something GDBA prides itself on. -Leaders are there to help you become successful as individuals, but more importantly, as a team.

Cons

-Coming from working a traditional work schedule (8 hour work days M-F) it was an adjustment to get use to the 12 hour shifts. However, working four days a week is nice. - Rapid growth of the company cause for small schedule strain. Very disciplined and strong work ethic individuals excel at this while others will struggle.

We are glad to hear your experience at GDBA has been a positive one. We try to foster a collaborative community here at GDBA and with the quick growth and larger teams, we try to keep the tight-knit relationships present. We know the schedules can be challenging and it is something we are looking to improve.

Pros

The company is rapidly growing which is great for upward movement of your career. This job is better for single people, especially if they're willing to relocate. There is HUGE opportunity for those that are willing to seek it out! This job is not for everyone. The hours are often times long. They're not consistent with a schedule. And you have to schedule around the client's needs. That's why we're here, to protect a PERSON. That's also the good thing about it. You won't get bored by doing the same thing day after day. You may go to a premier one night, and the next night your driving them to meetings. Iv'e had great leadership in my time with the company. I've always received time off when I asked for it. We all bend over backwards to ensure time off is granted. We all work really hard so it's definitely earned when you take it. Opportunity to travel - Iv'e had the chance to go on international details. You have the opportunity to do several different types of security in this company. From travel details to secure transport to residential and commercial access control and more! Each has their own challenges, but are good to gain knowledge in. Management takes all suggestions and give you feedback on them. I've suggested several changes and have gotten a response on each one. They don't always agree with the suggestions, but they will always give you feedback on why or why not. I feel like the upper senior management does care and listens to the "troops on the ground" with regard to personal well being and family life. Opportunity to make a LOT of money without a degree. You can put your military/law enforcement skills to work! (you don't need to be in those two categories, but it falls in line with the work). If you're a self starter and seek out opportunities, you will go far in the company and have a great career.

Cons

There are a lot of sites that need assistance because we're growing so fast (good and bad). We will do OT even if we don't always want to because of a client's schedule or a site's needs. Depending on the area you're in, there could be a big discrepancy in the pay scale. OT is sometimes frowned upon for senior management due to hourly rate vs junior Protectors leading to unbalanced hours (possible frustration build up) You may have to move sites or relocate to a different region for advancement opportunities.
