Pros

I joined GDBA after serving 8 years in the Marines. When I started with GDBA, I expected to be fast tracked based on my previous military experience. Quickly I learned that everything with this company must be earned. I wanted higher pay, so I volunteered to work more shifts and special assignments. The schedule changes frequently which mean it allow numerous opportunity for overtime. On the other hand if I need time off, I can schedule the days I need off. I have two girls that are very active in sports, and it’s always been important to me to be at their games and practices. Through proper planning, I am able to at attend at least 90% of their events. A lot of associates at GDBA are taking advantage of the schedule for other reasons; either going back to school or completing certifications such as EMT, Sky Diving Jump master, or getting a pilot’s license. There are plenty of opportunities with GDBA; you just have to roll up your sleeves and put in the work. I started with GDBA in February 2007 and was promoted to manager in October 2007. There is no trickery, favoritism, or manipulation. If you have a strong work ethic, this is the right company for you.

Cons

Every job has its highs and lows. Work is busy not never overwhelming.

Opportunity and GROWTH

Pros

When I came aboard, the firm had between 200-250 employees. Since then the company has more than doubled in size and continues to grow. I've traveled oversees and all over the US with clients, and have been assigned to a wide variety of challenging details. There is plenty of opportunity in many different divisions within GDBA. It's a unique firm with a strong professional culture.

Cons

It gets tough at times. The schedule can be demanding, but it's not that difficult. Totally doable. Certain assignments can be more challenging than others. Often times, you'll be working on your own. You need to be disciplined and willing. A little energy and positivism goes a long way!

Not a Job, A Career

Pros

Gavin de Becker and Associates is a great place to work if you’re looking for not just a job, but a career. I’ve been working for GDBA for several years and I have to say, it’s great to work for an organization that is promotion by merit and rewards hard work and dedication. Being a protector is not a job, it’s a way of life, and it’s great to work side by side with like-minded individuals. This kind of work is not for everyone, but if you want to be a part of an organization that has tremendous growth and opportunity, rewards your hard work and dedication, and is a career, give this organization a serious look.
