Pros

There was a lot of autonomy so I felt very free during the internship.

Cons

It would have been great to have some guidance or clearer onboarding.

Pros

Fixing computers and helping people provides a good deal of satisfaction. I learned a lot about different vulnerabilities, part failure rates, manufacturing costs and build quality of products. Depending on where you work, having good co-workers also makes it a very enjoyable experience if you've got an interest in technology.

Cons

At the location I worked at, there were a lot of customers who came in screaming from the get-go, and to be fair, the prices that Geeksquad wants to charge people are sometimes a little ridiculous. Even getting customers to agree to charges, we'd have them come back later and start a shouting match until a manager came and gave them the service at an extreme discount. This prompted more yelling in future visits and an expectation of savings due to getting special treatment the first time.

easy to get into the business, but there is no future and respect

Pros

easy to get into the field and learn things while you are getting paid. You can be hired as a technician with no absolutely experience.

Cons

This cons is for BestBuy, not Geek Squad. It is hard to see Geek Squad as a stand alone company, since they belongs to Bestbuy and at store level, it is just one small dept to sell services . No way to grow up within the company, if you are already experienced technician, unless giving up your specialty and moving your career to sales, since you are a part of small small and small sub-dept of big brick and mold sales company.and it is hard to expect job security. they always say 'don't worry about loosing your job.' so many times, but they can let you go at anytime with some package. No respect for experienced professional. some management even shows an attitude " your job is very easy and anyone can learn fairly quickly". They may believe that anyone can be easily replaceable with someone younger and cheaper.
