Pros

Geisinger is a huge organization, there are a large variety of opportunities, the benefits are good, there is a wide salary range opportunity, they offer training opportunities.

Cons

Because Geisinger is such a huge organization it can feel quite impersonal. The experience "in the trenches" can feel as if management doesn't have their "finger on the pulse" of the everyday experiences of workers.

Pros

Good benefits, vacation time, pharmacy hours are great. Direct management is understanding. Opportunity for extra shifts available. Extra help available on most occasions.

Cons

It's hard to get rid of bad employees. Hiring someone new takes forever. Upper management imposes new procedures without ever visiting sites and understanding our business

Pros

Health Insurance, 401k, Vision, Dental. Major player in Central PA healthcare field. Lots of time off.

Cons

You don't really matter, you're often understaffed and overworked. Everything depends on your manager and how they view you. Employees are uppity and miserable. The only thing that matters to Geisinger is productivity. They pretend to care about their employees for a legal perspective but in the end they just treat you like replaceable commodities. Career advancement is minimal. You do the job you do and that's about it. No cross training, no movement or shadowing other jobs. They also have a nasty habit of naming jobs something that they aren't so they can provide a lower pay to employees since they go off national average. Pay is very low for the amount of stress.
