      Pros

      Geisinger is a large hospital system and has many areas in which a person can work in. From nursing to research there really is a job for everyone here. The benefits and compensation are good and there is always room to move around and/or to advance within.

      Cons

      The challenges of working here is the growth of the company which is moving 10 times faster than the people working here. Geisinger has taken over many hospitals within the past two years and the continued growth means, the need for more office space and work space.

      no value seen in those who hold advanced degrees, shut out of opportunities to move up within the system. Education is not valued when it comes to administrative staff, connections are viewed as more important

      Pros

      Most co-workers were intelligent, friendly, hard workers. Lots of good, experienced people on both the healthcare provider side and on the administrative and support side. Most middle management is dedicated and decent to their workers.

      Cons

      The company had been focusing more and more on profits and the bottom line, like all companies. Unfortunately, they are very quick to react to decreases in income but very slow to share the wealth when times are good. A lot of upper management decisions seem very short-sighted. The phrase "Penny wise and pound foolish" comes to mind at times.
